With the global economy in poor shape and the feeling being that seniors are more likely to be laid-off than their younger counterparts, it is no surprise that many older people turn to cosmetic surgery in a bid to boost their self-confidence and help their job prospects.
However according to some cosmetic surgeons, older patients are increasingly opting for body contouring operations over facial cosmetic surgery such as facelifts or Botox. Over half of women over 50 are thought to go under the knife for some form of body cosmetic surgery such as liposuction, breast augmentation or tummy tucks.

New research has shown that patients taking anti-depressants or herbal remedies before undergoing cosmetic surgery may be putting their health at risk.
Cosmetic surgeons have long encouraged patients to forego herbal supplements and remedies for a couple of days before their surgery. However new research published by Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has shown that patients should not use herbal remedies and supplements for up two a fortnight before surgery, otherwise there is a higher risk of adverse reactions to the anaesthesia used during surgery.

With some plastic surgery clinics starting to feel the pinch, it has been predicted that Indian cosmetic surgery clinics are one of the most likely to actually see an increase in demand for elective cosmetic surgery. In part, this is because the Indian cosmetic surgery market is still a young one and is predicted to need at least 10 years before it reaches saturation point.

With the global economy looking decidedly unhealthy as we head into 2009, it is unsurprising that parts of the Cosmetic Surgery industry are feeling the pinch – with credit more difficult to obtain, and stocks and property prices falling, demand for breast implant surgery has declined.
Many cosmetic surgeons have witnessed a fall in the number of people looking for cosmetic surgery over the past few months, year on year, with breast enlargement surgery looking like the biggest loser.

A Korean cosmetic surgery addict is so addicted to the way that she looks that she has been injecting herself with cooking oil.
According to Weird Asia News, Hang Mioku had her first taste of plastic surgery when she was 28 years old. Since then, she has become obsessed with cosmetic surgeries which have consequently ruined her face.
