A cosmetic surgeon has warned that patients looking to have eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) should be prepared to use tape or a paperclip to show your cosmetic surgeon exactly how high they would like the crease on the eyelid.
Dr. Peterson, Chief Plastic Surgeon at Athena Clinic, made the comments after discovering that many Asian patients were having eyelid surgery and ending up with the eyelid crease too high. The problem comes because the average Asian eyelid is smaller than the average Caucasian eyelid – Asian eyelids are, on average, 7.49mm whereas Caucasian eyelids are 10mm.

The FDA have approved Dysport for the US aesthetic market. Dysport is similar to Botox in that it is derived from the botulinium toxin. However it is claimed that Dysport is superior to Botox in that it acts more quickly to reduce and remove wrinkles and the toxin does not spread to other parts of the body other than the injection side, minimising risk.

British women have been rushing out to buy Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum after clinical trials showed that the product could reduce wrinkles and improve the appearance of skin damaged by the sun.
Researchers at the University of Manchester carries out a clinical trial on 60 volunteers to determine how effective the product was. The results showed that 70% of people had significantly fewer wrinkles after 12 months of daily use compared to those given a placebo.

The relationship between the lips and beauty is an interesting one. In the 1980s thin lips were considered attractive whereas in the 1990s big lips were the in thing (think Pamela Anderson) and in the naughties we have landed somewhere in the middle in a more natural look. Given the dynamic nature of the association between the size of lips and beauty if you are thinking of enhancing your lips then you should probably think about going for a temporary (or at least reversible) option – who knows what is just around the corner in the next beauty trend.
