Cosmetic surgery for perfect feet

As many women will know, killer heels may look great but may also end up disfiguring your feet. Therefore it comes as no surprise to hear that some cosmetic surgeons are cashing in on womens’ love of shoes by helping them achieve perfect feet.

Eyebrow Transplants

The eyebrow transplant is one of the latest cosmetic crazes. Fashion these days tends towards strong, defined eyebrows and for those who have plucked their eyebrows into tiny lines, help is at hand!

The eyebrow transplant takes a couple of hours to complete and normally costs in the region of $4,000. Hair is taken from the back of the patient’s head and the follicles extracted. The surgeon will then make tiny incisions in and around the eyebrow to create the new shapes, with the holes specially angled to indicate the way the hair should grow. Follicle by follicle, the donor hairs are planted into these eyebrow holes with up to 350 needed per eyebrow.

New adhesion film helps reduce internal scarring

One problem of any cosmetic surgery is that of scarring, both internal and external. Internal scars can cause a range of problems, from discomfort through to more serious issues such as bowel blockages.

Although surgeons do their best to prevent adhesions, they are not always successful. To help reduce adhesions following surgery, a new product, Seprafilm, can be used.

Shoulder liposuction for that ‘Keira Knightley look’

The latest cosmetic surgery craze to appear is having liposuction on the shoulders to get that ‘Keira look.’

Surgeons in New York have reported a number of women coming to them for liposuction to give them more slender shoulders such as those sported by Keira Knightley. These women are requesting that as much fat as possible be taken away from the shoulder area to give them a more toned and sinewy look.

Sculptra - better than Botox?

There are many who are not sold on the benefits of Botox, claiming that the toxin produces a face which looks unnatural thanks to the freezing of muscles. For those who are looking to maintain or obtain a more youthful looking face but are loathe to try Botox injections, Sculptra may be a good alternative.

Manbag surgery surges

Cosmetic surgery amongst British men seems more popular than ever with eye lifts for men, colloquially known as ‘manbags’, doing particularly well. Record numbers of men are following George Clooney’s example and going under the knife to rid themselves of the tired, baggy and saggy skin around their eyes. Anecdotal evidence shows that these procedures have more than quadrupled in just two years.
