Has your Cosmetic Surgery gone wrong?
Every year thousands of people undergo successful Cosmetic Surgery procedures with reputable surgeons. However, there are unfortunately cases where surgeons do not live up to their reputations and surgeries can go wrong.
For people that have taken the major decision to undergo surgery to then have to face an unsuccessful result can be hugely upsetting. For many they have put aside money to pay for the procedure and spent many weeks and months thinking about whether surgery is the right decision for them.
From botched nose jobs and face lifts, to bad breast enlargements and dodgy liposuction, unfortunately the majority of surgeries can go wrong if not carried out correctly. This is why it is massively important for anyone looking to having Cosmetic Surgery to make sure they thoroughly research potential surgeons, understand the surgery and its associated risks, ask lots of questions and most of all only go ahead when they are 100% happy.
A London based PR agency is looking for people who have gone through the unfortunate experience of surgery going wrong, and in particular people who have seen bad results from Smart Lipo. If you have had any form of surgery that has produced results that it shouldn’t have then please get in touch. The PR agency is looking for a case study that would be willing to undergo corrective surgery with the surgeon they represent and agree to them placing the story in the media
Any interested parties should contact Shelley@pha-media.com. Also be sure to tell us about your own Cosmetic Surgery experiences either as a comment below, or on the Cosmetic Surgery Forum.

Not really botched surgery, but I must admit to having a ‘trout pout’ for a few weeks after my Botox treatment, fortunately the swelling subsided with time.

I scheduled my breast reduction on September 13th, 2004. I thought everything had gone well, however, that was just the beginning. I ended up losing both breasts, having 2 supsequent surgeries and scars from hell. If that wasn’t enough, I suffered a severe infection that almost claimed my life. To this day, I have not healed, and am torn between wanting to be “fixed” or just trying to live with it the rest of my life. I am 34 years old, and have not been able to move past this awful stage in my life as of yet. I put on a happy face that everything is ok, but I am dead inside. I want so desperatly to find a doctor that could work a miracle and get me looking at least presentable. I dont even want to look at myself in the mirror. My personal story would take days, so I’ll leave it at this.

Hi Amber, I’ve just read your comment. Your experience with plastic surgery sounds awful. I can’t imagine what you must have been through. I’m sorry to contact you this way, but I was wondering whether you would talk to me about it? I’m a features writer for all the women’s magazines in the UK and believe your story would be very educational to thousands of women who are contemplating having surgery. While little consolation for your ordeal, I would also be able to get you the very best payment for your story. You can reach me at feats@catersnews.com
Kindest regards, and I hope you are managing to get your life back on track.

Hi Nicola
I have a story to tell, fortunately for me the outcome of my surgery is not as horrific as poor Amber’s story. I had my surgery abroad, I picked the clinic because of their highly advertised 1 year patient care guarantee programme + unlimited post care here in the UK. I had breast augmentation in April 2008.
My story is not over yet, but I’m in limbo as to what steps to take next, so if you would like to hear my story, please contact me.

Dear all,
I am a Masters student at City University, London, and am making a short documentary on the dangers of cosmetic surgery. Having read some of your experiences on this forum, I’ve been shocked that surgery can have such awful effects. It seems this is an area that needs far greater regulation, and this is what we wish to discuss in our programme.
The material will be pitched to current affairs/investigative programmes in the UK.
I am looking for people who might be able to help to create the documentary – who would be able to share their experiences to show how things can go wrong. More and more individuals, especially young people, are rushing into ‘quick’ cosmetic surgery procedures – we believe that it is important that they know the dangers it may pose.
If you think you may be able to help, you can e-mail me in confidence at e.slater6@hotmail.com.
Many thanks,
Emma Slater, City University

My horror story is still fresh in my mind.June 2000 I had liposuction on my saddle bags. I hated my thighs and had saved up for this surgery. But this Doctor started to pick my body apart he stated “if you do the saddle bags you need to lipo the entire leg make them smaller so I agreed like a fool.I woke up to find my right leg larger than the left but this is not what has haunted me day and night. The doctor just STOP the surgery above my knee so I have a DEEP line across both legs it make my knees look as if they are always swollen and disfigured with lumps for years they would sting and itch.I’m a 43yr. old attractive woman but I have not been in a relationship for fear of how a man may react to seeing my legs.I never wear shorts nor dresses unless they are below the knee. This has brought my life to a crawl and early on I had a guy friend but I woke up to find him poking my knees saying why would someone leave your legs like this so I keep to myself.

I had a rhinoplasty and to get what I wanted the doctor had to remove a part of tissue from my ear to place on the tip of my nose. As a result my ear is now deformed on the inside. Also the nose is bigger than what it was before the surgery. As a result I was very depressed. I try to tell myself that it will be okay, but it’s been 5 weeks now, and I still have not taken the tape off my nose because I don’t want to be seen with my ugly nose. Also, I now have a complex about my ear. When people are on that side of ear, I try to turn so they would not see my deformed ear. I don’t even discuss it with my parents, because I am too ashamed to mention it to them. I was dperessed for a while, and I’m still depressed, but I try to convince myself that it will be okay, but I think about it everyday. My life is now altered because of it and I don’t even want to be seen by anyone I know. If anyone can give me some advice on this, please contact me.

Hi all,
We are currently making a documentary for the BBC and we are looking for people who have very bad/verygood experiences of rhinoplasty and liposuction to talk about their experience and offer their advice to teenagers who are considering having these procedures. We would very much like to hear from poeple who had their procedure at a young age (preferably teens), especially if your decision to undergo the procedure was driven by a desire to make it into the modelling industry.
If you are interested in taking part or just have some more questions, please contact me at

Hello Lorena
I am horrified to hear that you went through all the stress and pain of surgery.
I am a journalist and would be very interested in hearing more about your story as I am writing a feature about cosmetic surgery for a UK glossy magazine.
The magazine is looking for a woman aged 20 to 35 who has had some sort of cosmetic surgery tummy procedure which has either gone wrong, or she’s not happy with the results (ie it was a waste of time).
Would you be prepared to share your story and be named and pictured?
You would be paid a fee.
Please do let me know by contacting me in the first instance via my email of monicafivestar@live.com
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Kerry,
I’m really sorry to hear about your surgery trouble and your subsequent heartache – I can’t imagine how tough this is for you.
You might have seen my feature on the website but I’m looking to work on a magazine feature highlighting the risks of surgery abroad and trying to raise awareness of stories like yours – it’s not a scaremongering article but it aims to advise potential patients on the dangers and what questions to ask before they go ahead with surgery. I’m looking to feature some women with stories like yourself where they have travelled overseas for surgery but are not happy with the results.
Please reply or email me at victoriajoy25@gmail.com if you’re interested in speaking to me about this.

Hi Lisa and AJ,
Thanks to both of you for sharing your stories on this site.
I’m sure you’ve seen the article on the site and my message to Kerry below but I’m looking to speak to women who have had bad experiences with beauty procedures overseas.
It’s for a report in a national newspaper supplement to raise awareness of the potential risks of cosmetic surgery abroad and to advise women thinking about similar treatments on what questions they should be asking and what to look for in a surgeon.
If you’re interested in sharing your story and helping other women avoid the dangers of cosmetic surgery abroad, do just drop me a reply or email me at victoriajoy25@gmail.com to speak further.

these stories sound horrible. i am in a mess myself as a result of a pinnaplasty procedure by a very reputable hospital and group here in the uk. i was told it was simple and straight forward prior to surgery. following i was left in a great deal of pain and my ears had rather then being taken in, one been moved and the other remained where it was prior to any surgery. they then have tried to charge me (yes i was stupid enough to let the surgeon fix it himself) more fees for the revision. i can not work or function because of the pain i am in, have tried for the last 8 months to get help from the hospital with no success – just a mountain of cost for myself – i have sought independant opinion and it would cost another near £4000 for this to be fixed, for some reason i can’t get on the nhs as i paid for the first procedure privately initially. i am at a loss and like others am basically a hermit in my own home – previously a well paid professional. i don’t know what to do and with no income can’t afford to privately get this fixed myself – but the hospital shoudl be paying for it as it was meant to be an all inclusive package should anything go wrong!

my breasts are now wonky,my nipples are not level and one is considerably smaller than the other.also i went through the trauma of the awake facelift and there is no difference at all,i was told they lifted my skin by 1cm WOW!!
the surgeon has offered to do the surgery again in 6-12 months time, but how can you correct nipples that have been chopped at? she said she can make them appear the same by tattoo…what a joke..

Hi Amber,
I had cosmetic veins removed under my eyes. Since then they not only swelled really bad but they left depressions where the swelling was. This is my face. I also used there skincare program which I think mixed with an exfoliator I use and caused a chemical peel. It was so dehydrated and dry and it just made me so sick, it has gotten better but the skin is very thin now. I was so sick in the beginning and all the dermatologist would do for me is tell me that the eyes are the first place you age. I had some wrinkles don’t get me wrong but now there are more, which makes me sick, I’m only 38 and I don’t want to look 50. I hate myself for trusting her and feel stupid for trying to be perfect. Cheer up, it happens to alot of us. Have faith and confidence about you and this will help get you through this.

Sheryl,
I had a bad experience too with cosmetic vein removal under the eyes. That is the first thing people look at when they see you. My eyes look sunken in, like hollows, because of all the swelling after it subsided. I am so embarassed and angry at myself for letting me be so insecure to begin with. But take it from me it has made me sick, not able to function with my husband or daughter well at all. I certainly feel your pain. Just try to be optimistic, I know as hard as it may seem. Remember God put you here for a reason, we don’t know why sometimes but there is a reason and it isn’t all about the way you look either. I have to keep repeating this to myself everytime I look in the mirror. My botch job isn’t as bad as yours but I know about how you feel like your world is crashing down. Keep on praying!!!!! I’m here for you.

Hey. I read your story and i absolutely understand how you feel. I got dermafiller done underneath my tear troughs to correct my dark circles due to insomnia. What I did not know was that my surgeon injected a filler that was not supposed to be placed ever beneath the tear troughs. I had my filler dissolved with hylauronidase and have lost my natural fatty tissues on my cheeks, the filler subsided of course, and what was left exposed shocked me. Veins had erupted due to the irritation and harsh chemicals and pressure from the filler. No matter what I do, I cannot hide the aftermath of the dermafiller and my face looks deformed. My skin toned as changed and my face is sagging cuz of the chemical used to dissolve the filler. I am only 24 and am not married. Trust me, I understand how you feel girl!

hi,I always hated my jaw line, and always wanted to have short hair or pin it up, as iv got a receding chin, I recently came out of a unhappy marriage, put on 2 stone then as I got on with life lost it which made my neck even more saggy, so thought this is my chance to give me some self esteem and be happy as that’s all I ever wanted.
So with what money I had I went to a private well known clinic and said what I wanted to achieve just a neck lift as even my friends said you don’t look like you need a face lift. I’m only 47 and have always looked after my skin and never smoked etc.
I was told by the surgeon that I would need a mini face lift also and it would give me the lift, he should know what he’s on about as he is the surgeon so trusted his decision. I had mentioned about lipo under the neck and possible a chin implant but he said in his opinion I didn’t need that.
So I had the surgery 18 months ago and I look worse than before. I still have a saggy neck in fact friends say its worse. I’ve also gained bags on the top of my cheeks cos of the face lift and have terrible visible scars around my ears to which if I do feel like going out on not a windy day I have to put foundation on to hide them, my ears are also odd now. I feel so down all the time. What should of been a great start to the rest of my life is ruined. I’ve recently married and when my husband ask me if I’m happy I say yes to please him but feel I will never be. Even when I’m with him I’m careful with my scars that he don’t look as I’m so embarrassed, and feel worthless.
I watch programmes now on tv where people have had good results and I’m so envious of them as they look how I should feel happy:(

Hi so sorry to read of your nightmare and ruined life. I had jaw reconstruction in 2004-2005, I came out worse, in pain, my face disfigured and have lived in dysfunctional suffering everyday since the treatment. I have been a social recluse, had counselling for the disfigurement to my face and for the dysfunction pain, loss of function, have not smiled for 4 yrs, I cannot anymore, I have had my quality of life stolen from me by a surgeon. £40,000. The story is horrendous, the photos horrific. Contact me we need this in the media what they do to human life. The impact it has on the entire family as well as yourself.

Hi,
My friend has recently been to see a cosmetic surgeon, she wanted lipo in her knees. He has talked her in to having her whole body done (calf’s, knees, bum stomach and arms). He has told her she will be able to go to a concert the next day! And advised her that taking 5 days of work will be fine. She has a very active job she is a police woman.
She has mental health problems and she has put weight on due the medication she has to take. She is currently not taking her medication.
I would really appreciate you opinion and feed back on this. I don’t think that she understands that she has been talked in to doing something she didn’t want to do or what she is about to out her body though.

I am just back from surgery abroad in Malaysia. There is a problem in the outcome of this surgery. I feel that the surgeon may have cheated me, on this one. I had arranged an ‘extra’ surgery privately with the surgeon, as part of a package deal from a surgery holiday company called Body Beautiful.
The surgeon performed this ‘extra’ in his ordinary clinic, with local. It was very traumatic.
He performed other surgery but this was arranged through before I left the UK as part of a package deal, in hospital.
Now home the surgery outcome of the ‘extra’ is non existent. There is no change. I’m not sure if he was the right person to go to. I maybe should have went to a gynaecologist, as it was a very specialised procedure.
What I’m trying to say is people have to watch that when in a strange country, as we can be too trusting. I was carried along with the whole surgery thing and felt that the surgeon would do everything he said. However now I’m not sure if he even had the qualifications for this type of procedure.
I am currently in dispute with this surgeon over this matter. I have asked Body Beautiful for advise but they have failed to respond. I do not want to feel that they don’t want to know, now I’m back home, but I think that maybe the case.
I feel though that they should be concerned, as this is their main surgeon. If he saying to their customers that he can perform operations and then giving shoddy work, then surely that is their problem too.

I had upper and lower eye lid surgery and a face lift also. I have been left with a lumps on my face and horrid scars under my eyes. I feel mamed and ugly now. The thing about eyes is this, they are bang in the middle of our faces. Although compared to some others it seems I am one of the luckier ones to have come out of botched cosmetic surgery just looking unattractive. I may look ugly now, but at least I didn’t have to fight for my life. I can’t help feeling upset about how I look now though.

i went to tunisia for a mini facelift at the clinique avicienne with dr ben jemaa, the surgery went wrong, now 2 years later i am left with a large unsightly folds of excess skin along both sides of my face, down to my neck,i lost two inches of hair line above my ears, i have a noticeable lump on one side of my face that never went, and my ears are now disfigured slanting unnaturally downwards like pixie ears with terrible scarring, it has taken me over all this time to save up the £4500 to have this corrected, and i am having it done in 5 weeks here in the uk, this basically destroyed my life, and this surgeon is a money grabbing butcher, just wanted to warn people not to beleive flashy websites like i did. i wanted this surgery to look younger and feel more confident, not have my face disfigured.

incidentally since this, i have been told that what was performed on me, was not a mini facelift, it was a classical full facelift, which at 38 i did not need, i only had slight sagging in my jowls, and the surgery did not improve those at all,i was not told there was a risk of loosing a massive chunk of hairline through the surgery either. it did not help that the surgeon could barely speak any english, my so called english speaking assistant that was promised by the website, spoke around 2 words of english, it was one of the worst and frightening experiences of my life.
