Saving up for Cosmetic Surgery?

According to a recent survey by the Harley Medical Group, 11% of people fund their cosmetic surgery through overtime work or a second job, whilst around 20% of people ask their family for money; 33% save up over time with 24% turning to credit cards to fund their plastic surgery.

The poll asked more than 2,000 patients on ways they had funded their cosmetic surgery and discovered that 21% had been loaned money for the operation by a family member. Of these, 10% had been loaned the money from their parents. 8% of people had used their long-term savings and inheritance money with 3% taking out a loan to cover surgery costs.

The Harley Medical Group have also said that they have seen a big increase in the number of prospective patients in the first two weeks of 2008 – up 32% on the same period last year. Both surgical and non-surgical procedures are increasing in popularity, although non-surgical procedures are increasing at a faster rate – their company saw a 51% rise in the number of Botox treatments in 2007 alone, with laser hair removal up by 36%.
