Fillers Can Damage Facial Tissues

Fillers are one of the most popular forms of non-invasive cosmetic surgery however new research shows that these anti-aging and anti-wrinkle solutions may be very damaging.

Researchers found that injecting fillers into the skin may damage underlying facial tissue. Researchers asked 900 surgeons to collect evidence to support the study. The research highlighted that some practitioners inject too much filler into the face and this can cause permanent damage to the facial tissues. It is thought that as many as 5% of patients may be suffering from irreversible damage – to both facial tissue and the fibrous connective tissues.

The research also showed that many permanent fillers produced uneven results with bumps and deformities a common side effect. Some filler damage was so severe that it required further surgery to correct the problem.

Hi Suzan – I came by your post purely by change (was looking for something else). I doubt you will get the answer to your question here. You should address your question directly to a plastic surgeon if you really want to find a solution to your problem and one that is from an informed source. That’s what I would do if I were you. I hope this helps. So sorry to hear of your misadventure. It must be very distressing and I hope you will find someone to direct you as to the best course of action. Best of luck

    Dear Suzan

I was very surprised to read your negative experience with the Remake Filler.
I have a strong feeling that the doctor who injected this filler was not experienced and his technique was not good. This kind of problem that you describe may happen with any filler which is injected too shallow.
I have been injecting Remake successfuly for over a year now. At least 100 patients were treated with it and I have absolutely great results, especially in areas like the lips.
Please try to send an email to the company at
info@tuxedocorp.com and I am sure they can reccomend on a doctor in Saudi Arabia.

They say Remake is made by an Italian company, Carmello Protopapa been involved in its publicity at congress around the world, he is a member of the family who owns Polymekon. Polymekon’s only product up until recently was Bio Alcamid. There have been awful problems with Bio Alcamid. People are still trying to deal with the disfiguring effects of migration and attempted removal. The problems described with your Remake injection sound very much like the problems with Bio Alcamid. Bio Alcamid was said to be safe, non migratory and easily removable. This is not true. Polymekon is never mentioned in connection with Remake, but be quite sure, it is their product.

I was very interested to read your comments on Remake. It is my understanding that it is only licensed for use in Saudi and France. So I am surprised to see that Dr Goldman is using it, although I do know of a French doctor who is using it here in the UK. Plus, as another person stated, it is made by the manufacturers of BioAlcamid in Italy. I have had heard concerns from colleagues regarding how it is supposed to break down. Please keep in touch.

It’s a while since I checked this site. More problems are emerging with Bio Alcamid. Polymekon state ‘injector error’ as the cause of migration, lumps and infections. But..as time goes on that defense is proving unlikely, the doctors who injected it are receiving more and more complaints. Those doctors are not the same few every time, more and more of them are quoting complications, sometimes years after injection.

Many reports and papers are including stories of adverse reactions, lumps, migration and severe infections. The reason for a lack of reporting of complications with this product in the past seems to be the fact that if a patient complained to the UK distributor of BioAlcamid, Cloverleaf, and Cloverleaf then send out an Adverse Reaction Reporting form, the doctor or clinic is not obliged to fill in and return the form.

Also, if the patient just complains directly to the injector or clinic, it is up to that clinic again if they chose to report to the manufacturers or distributor.

A few determined victims have pushed both the distributor and the manufacturer into responding, with some appearing in the press. Since then, more doctors are coming forward, as I said above.

EVERY person with a complication with Remake should make sure that the injector reports to the manufacturer, and they should contact the manufacturer themselves also, and the distributor, as soon as possible, and make as much noise as possible about it.

Bio Alcamid complications are happening all over the world, and still it is being denied by the company as having anything to do with the product itself. Briagio and Carmello Protopapa are fending off a lot of victims, maybe they fear they will go under regarding Bio Alcamid so are putting all the effort into marketing Remake.

Yes, I’m angry, at the injector for not doing his homework properly (there were reported problems before I had my injections of Bio Alcamid), and with the manufacturer for continuing to distribute the product for cosmetic use knowing those problems existed (despite the fact that not all reports got to them, there were enough of them). They continued to make money knowing misery and life-long problems were going to be suffered by many.
